The One Decision That Changes Everything — And the Book That Helps You Make It
And why I wrote Chapter 6 first.
The day is finally here—Health Shift is officially live on Amazon.
After months (okay, years) of writing, refining, and wrestling with how best to communicate this message, it’s out in the world. There’s a party planned for Saturday (join me if you’re in Cheyenne at Black Tooth Brewery from 2- 5 p.m.), but I’m already celebrating. Because this isn’t just the launch of a book—it’s the beginning of a movement!
When I sat down to write Health Shift, I didn’t start at Chapter 1. I started with Chapter 6.
That might seem like an odd choice. But in many ways, it was the heart of what I wanted to say. The chapter is called “Taking Control of Your Health Decisions,” and it zeroes in on a quiet truth I kept running into over and over again: the outcomes we experience in our health journeys often have less to do with the problem itself and more to do with how we think through the solution.
Time and again, I would see two people facing nearly identical health challenges—same symptoms, similar situations, even the same access to care—and yet, their outcomes were completely different. And it wasn’t because one was luckier, wealthier, or better connected. It came down to something simple but profound: how they made their decisions.
One paused to process. The other rushed to act.
One reflected on past experiences in the light of new information. The other repeated familiar patterns.
One asked questions. The other sought quick answers and solutions.
And the one who thought through it, who slowed down long enough to make sense of what was happening, often made the better decision—not always perfect, but better. They fit the person in such a way that they were more aligned and thus more effective.
That was the spark that led to Chapter 6. Honestly, it’s the heartbeat of the entire book.
I realized we don’t have a shortage of options when it comes to health—we have a shortage of clarity. We’re overwhelmed, influenced by persuasive voices (even well-meaning ones), and rarely take the time to ask: “Is this the right decision for me?” Instead, we rely on default tendencies, emotional nudges, or habits that may not serve us anymore.
So I decided to write a guide that invites people to think differently. This book allows us to pause, to ask better questions, and to know ourselves better. When we do that, we begin to make better, more strategic decisions, one at a time.
That’s why this chapter also includes a discovery tools that allow you to find your decision-making personality. Are you someone who tends to react quickly? Do you gather too much information and get stuck? Do you outsource decisions entirely to experts? There’s no shame in your type—there’s only insight. Because once you understand your natural style, you can begin to work with it instead of against it.
And that’s when decision-making becomes empowering instead of exhausting.
I wrote Health Shift because I was watching people make choices that weren’t really theirs. Sometimes it was a diet that didn’t fit their body. Sometimes it was a supplement that made big promises but delivered nothing but a lighter wallet. Sometimes it was just the absence of a decision, stuck in confusion or paralysis.
I wanted to do more than raise the red flags—I wanted to help people slow down, zoom out, and make better health decisions in a world that’s constantly trying to speed them up. And I wanted to do it with warmth, curiosity, and even a little fun. That’s why I incorporated the image of Hero Girl into each and every chapter. She’s your trusted guide throughout your health journey.
So if you’re someone who’s ever felt overwhelmed by health information, unsure where to start, or simply curious about why your decisions haven’t been working the way you hoped, this chapter is for you. The whole book is for you. It walks beside you, one step at a time.
I truly believe that if everyone made just one better health decision today and another one tomorrow, the ripple effect would be incredible, not just personally but culturally.
All that to say: you can check out a FREE sample chapter — aka, Chapter 6 right here.
